MAKE PATTERNED PAPERS
I had so much fun doing this chapter, especially the monoprints. I just kept producing more and more pages!
Here are a selection of those I produced:
Ink Marks
I used the edges of pieces of card and an old credit card into which I cut serrated edges and other shapes.

Bleach Marks
These are all done on black tissue paper with household bleach. I used the edges of card and credit cards again, and also a small round sponge for the second last one. The results were less predictable than I had anticipated which actually made for more interesting designs.

Monoprints
I did do a couple on a sheet of glass as suggested but, as I couldn’t get the glass out of the frame it was in, it was a bit inconvenient and messy. So I used my Gelli Plate which I had bought a few months ago and had never used. Now it is something I want to continue to experiment with. In some of them, particularly some of the first ones I did, I was a bit heavy handed with the acrylic paint I was using, and for some of them I took a second print to get a lighter version. I used various pieces of card, some serrated, some just the edge, and also small round sponges, and sea sponges to get different effects. The 15th and the last sample are done with my old potato masher! Too much paint on the first and a very light print on the second, but all part of the learning.
